Tungareshwar

This is our destination. Let me point out - look at the lush green background. That is exactly how our trek going to be. This is one of easy treks and good for starters. Me and AM had not been for treks for a while and we just wanted to warm up for treks in the upcoming monsoons. This was our perfect plan.

This forest forms a part of Sanjay Gandhi National Park. Easily reachable from Vasai. Once you reach Vasai, you can take a bus or rickshaw to Tungareshwar Phata.

The temple is hardly half an hour trek and pretty easy. Easy gradual ascent, but a long route to reach the Highest Point of Tungareshwar. A river runs through it and waterfalls can be enjoyed during monsoon. Beyond the temple, there is path that leads to the waterfall.
Once you come back from the fall to the temple, there is a way to ashram. This would lead to the highest point. It is not difficult but too long. It would take around 2-3 hours in dense jungle for the peak.

Do carry water bottle beyond the temple as there are no vendors/shops. Also carry few biscuit/chips packets to give you energy.

Flora Fauna of the region

Apart from this there was lot of mosquitoes. So do take precautions. I had big rash in the areas where they had bit me.
