Velneshwar, Hedvi Guhagar

Velneshwar:

Let us take a sneak peak into the globe where it is. :)
Disclaimer: The photos are not taken by me. I forgot the memory card and our camera was of no use in the trip
Velneshwar is a village on the Western Coast of Maharashtra, India, about 70 km from Ratnagiri. Velneshwar is reputed for its rock-free beach which facilitates the ease of swimming. There is an old Shiva temple near Velneshwar which is frequently visited by pilgrims.

Sort of like Maharashtra's best kept secret. Earlier i guess it used to be Ganapatipule, now folks got to know it :)

From Mumbai, we planned to take a train ( any train going towards Goa or Sawantwadi would work) and get down at chiplun.

From chiplun the local taxis try to loot you. Velneshwar is hardly 60 kms and they charge nothing less than 2.5k. You can take a bus by walking till the main road or take smaller Ace Magic/Piaggio Ape and the likes. They charge somewhere around 1.5 to 2k for one day to show in and around

Hedvi:

It is must to visit the Dashabhuj Ganapati temple. You can stay at Suruchi beach Resort which almost gives Private beach access which is heavenly.

Bamanghal is a water cave and there is a split between the rocks and 300 feet straight down into the water. so you sorta feel right out of hollywood adventure movie.

Guhagar:

Guhagar beach is one of the main tourist destinations in coastal maharashtra, and is a unique place to enjoy Konkani food. word is supposed to mean cave house in local language. We visited the famous  Durga Devi temple and Vyadeshwar temple.

Chiplun:

You would always see this image associated with Chiplun. It reminds me of the painting which we used to draw in school, 2 mountains and a river in the middle. beautiful sunset and birds flying. few boats. Exactly same. Have chai in the highway to enjoy the scenic view.

Do visit parashuram mandir, from which the parashuram ghat derives its name.

You can catch back train from Chiplun to Mumbai.
